Gmail Tips and Tricks – Gmail Search, Find emails in Specific Folders

Gmail offers a great search feature similar to Google search. It is very easy to use.

If you are searching for emails that are only in Inbox and if you do not want to include the emails from your sent item or from spam folder or from any labels use the following method to do this search.

Type in:inbox

in:spam

in:sent mail

in:trash

This operators only searches inside a specific folders instead of all emails in your Gmail.

You can use advanced search operators like

From:

To:

OR

And

Subject:

You need to use these operators next to the in:inbox or next to any folders that you want to search.

Gmail Tips and Tricks – Gmail Search, Find emails in your trash and archive

Gmail offers a search feature similar to Google search. It is very easy to use.

If you are looking for emails that are in your trash folder or in your archive folder or inside you spam folder, use the following method to search.

Type in:anywhere

So if you are search for emails from David and you do not know where it is, type in:anywhere from:David

Gmail Search anywhere

This Gmail search will bring the emails from all the folders including Gmail spam folder and Gmail trash folder.

You can do advanced search along with this search, like search subject or exact words or email sent to.
