Gmail contacts are stored automatically when you send an email to somebody, it also stores contacts or emails addresses that are typed wrongly by mistake.
You can easily delete the Gmail contacts that you do not want anymore.
Login to Gmail
Go to the contacts page by clicking on the Contacts link on the left side of your Gmail
Search and find the contact that you want to delete
Choose the contact and click the Delete contact button
You will find the Delete option under More actions tab. Once you delete the contact you will get a confirmation as below
Using the method above you can delete any Gmail contacts or email addresses in your address book.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please post a comment

I am sorry that no one replied to your comment, chutima jongjaroen.
By now you have probably found out how to delete messages. If not, please try going to Yahoo Help. (Probably by mistake, you sent your query to Gmail Help.) I myself have all kinds of problems with Yahoo, even after 9 or 10 years. I continue to moderate a Yahoo Group, but I have switched my email to Gmail. Overall, I find Google programs much better than anything in Yahoo. Gmail also has a great system for organizing and archiving messages. You can easily delete a message, but if you think you might ever need it again, you can hit “Archive” instead. In many other ways as well, Gmail is incredibly user friendly. It allows you to categorize and filter your messages in a way that suits your own particular needs. (No, I don’t work for Google! I just think it’s got the competition beat hands-down, at least as of October 2011.)
Best,
Elizabeth

even by deleting some wrong contacts i am getting those addresses when i clicking my compose option.
There is no CONTACT[s] header in my Gmail page in the left row or anywhere else
this was too confusing
WHENEVER I REPLY OR COMPOSE AN EMAIL AND TRY TO BRING UP A PARTICULAR CONTACT I ALSO GET
EMAIL ADDRESSES OF OTHER PEOPLE NOT ON MY CONTACT LIST. I DO NOT KNOW THESE PEOPLE. HOW CAN I DELETE THEM?
Pls contact remove
What kind of a silly answer is that? remove
Same problem as ‘Solly’. You think you’ve deleted a particular contact but when you go to compose an email you still get the ‘deleted’ contact coming up.
When I tried to delete a contact it came up in grey (Like you can not click on it) and that happens to all of them that I try to delete>
There is no delete contact that I can find. I see many other people are saying you’re wrong. Do you have any other problems you can’t solve?
I will say that gmail is the worst mail service I’ve ever had. Outlook Express is far superior and much easier. Try Incredimail. It’s another version of OE.
How can I remove the pop up contacts(from pop up window) when I compose an e-mail.
Thanks, very useful
