in the search field on the top write this:

“label:all -label:inbox -label:sent -label:spam -label:chats”

This displays all of the messages but excludes messages in your normal inbox, sent, spam and chats… What should be left should be purely your archived messages.

You can also include this “-label:trash” to exclude messages that are in your recycle bin

Yes, this posts explains how you can view that.

Enable the Label ALL Mail first, then do a search. or search [ in:all mail ]

You can delete what you want and delete it from trash for permanent deletion

Have you deleted the chat history?, if not do it now and it will not display again.

Hi there,

A similar question with this hyper link. I would like to add hyper link image in my gmail. So when people click on the image will link to my email so they can reply to my RSVP. I use insert image, and then when i try to click on the image and click on the hyper link icon, there is nothing happen, there is no new window to pop up to insert my email address. I am sorry that no one replied to your comment, chutima jongjaroen.

By now you have probably found out how to delete messages. If not, please try going to Yahoo Help. (Probably by mistake, you sent your query to Gmail Help.) I myself have all kinds of problems with Yahoo, even after 9 or 10 years. I continue to moderate a Yahoo Group, but I have switched my email to Gmail. Overall, I find Google programs much better than anything in Yahoo. Gmail also has a great system for organizing and archiving messages. You can easily delete a message, but if you think you might ever need it again, you can hit “Archive” instead. In many other ways as well, Gmail is incredibly user friendly. It allows you to categorize and filter your messages in a way that suits your own particular needs. (No, I don’t work for Google! I just think it’s got the competition beat hands-down, at least as of October 2011.)

@alan: those hyperlinks do get created when you send your mails, you may not see it while composing your message. Check your mail in the sent items and you’ll see how your mail is actually delivered.

I do not understand your question because you said, you have put a Doc in Archive.

You can only Archive email or emails with attachment. If it is Google Docs you need to visit Google Docs page and see “All items” there.

They need to include the option “add to directory” so we don’t have to keep re-spelling the same words!! Adding capitals we leave out at the beginning of a sentence would also be handy. It is the setting of your browser to open the file instead of saving.

If it is Chrome find the “options” page and find the tab “under the hood” you will see Download section and choose “Ask where to save each file before downloading”

Hi Everyone looking for an update on this problem. I have newly downloaded Google Chrome and could not find out how to import my I.E. favourites.

With the version I have just downloaded (on 9/05/2011), you have to click on the “spanner tool” symbol at the top right corner, then click Options, then Personal Stuff.

Then look for Browsing data and click on the button to “Import data from another browser.”

That does the trick!!

I accidentally put a group of people into a group folder by accident, how can a remove the whole group that I put into the folder at one time with out deleting them from the total contacts, need to go back through the names and select specific ones to put back into this group folder.

I want to create hyperlinks to websites in Gmail emails that display the “hand” icon when you hover over them. I can do them as you show above, but it takes the user an extra step to open the hyperlink. I see these all the time in emails that are sent to me, but I don’t know how to do them.

The gmail spell check is a rather crappy spell checking utility. First it isn’t automatic… you have to click the button for it. It should be able to automatically check while typing. Second, the spell checking is horrible. It finds incorrect words but also selects parts of words saying they are incorrect. One would think Goggle could make a good spell checker.

I dont like the new version, as it is not so convenient, the older version suggests the contacts automatically if I type the first one or two letters, now I have to go to contacts everytime to get my mail composed.

Google is no more a user friendly now. My problem is I cant go back to my older version.

Hey, I just had the same question as Ken, I would like to organize my contacts by last name/first name, and I can figure that out how to enter my contacts that way, but when I look at the list of my contacts it is all jumbled because it is organized by first name and not last name. Is there anything I can do to change this? Thank you!

Oh, and it's free and online. what more can you ask for?

I use Apple iWork Numbers to edit my contacts. I just export CSV file from Google then I import it to iWork. Then I edit it there, export it back to CSV and import edited list to Google. Easy and convenient.

LIke K.P. in earlier question, I cannot figure out how to change the format of my entire mailbox to last name abc order. When I exported them from another mail service, they all came in first name order even though the addresess from the former site were as I would like them ….last name, first name alphabetical listing. The thought of going through and retyping leaves me to find another mail service. Any suggestions on how to rearrange the order will be greatly appreciated.

A new search engine in town is being compared to Google. cuil (pronounced cool) has an impressive number of web pages indexed and a nice interface to the web, but Google it isn’t….at least not yet. Still, it’s worth checking out and popping in once in a while to see if they continue to improve. One very noticable thing is that the images they display can’t always be found on the resulting web site. Some of our listings showed images I’ve never seen before so I know it’s not old images. Some links were old and led to different (new) sites or 404 errors. Good luck to them. It ain’t easy taking on the big boys of search.

on my utorrent when i paused and stopped my downloads it use to say on the main download page,

but for some reason now it does pause and stop downloads but it dont tell me on the down load page?

I use a lot of google apps and have a Droid, but I have to say…Google desperately needs to hire some decent UI designers. Every time I want to do something semi out of the ordinary (like view my Archive) I have to google for the super-secret hidden answer. Maybe it's their way of increasing ad revenue. This is true not just in Gmail, but in the browser, the Android OS, docs, everywhere!
