<p>When you click on any email address, normally Outlook express opens or Outlook opens, you can simply type the content and send it.</p>
<p>Instead of using outlook express or Outlook or Thunderbird you can have Gmail handle all the emails for you.</p>
<p>To do this you need to install Gmail notifier which can be <a target="_blank" title="Gmail Notofier" href="http://dl.google.com/gmail-helper/GmailInstaller.exe" target="_blank">downloaded here</a></p>

<p>Right click on the trey icon and click options</p>

<p>Click the check box (<strong>Use Gmail for internet Mailto: links</strong>) to select Gmail as a default email handler for all your email links.</p>

<p>When you click the settings button on top of the page you will see the below page with �General� options</p>

<li>Your contacts picture in Gmail or Gtalk</li>

<li>Gmail Personal Level Indicators</li>
<li>Gmail Auto responder (Vacation Responder)</li>
<li>Gmail outgoing message encoding</li>
<li>Browser connection for Gmail (Secure or not)</li>
</ul>
<p>Next to General Tab we have Accounts Tab as seen below</p>

<li>Sending mails from different address (Gmail From address)</li>
<li>You can add another email address fro sending messages</li>
<li>You can buy additional Gmail storage</li>
<li>Fetch mail � Gmail offers a feature of getting messages from up to 5 POP account into your Gmail account</li>
<li>Google account settings � Change password or security Question or alternate email ID</li>
<li>Google apps with other Google Domain</li>
</ul>
<p>Next to accounts Tab we have Labels Tab as seen below</p>

<p>Next to Labels we have Filters as seen below</p>

<p>Using Forwarding and POP/IMAP option, you can do the following</p>
<ul>
<li>You can forward all the emails coming to your Gmail ID</li>
<li>You can either keep the forwarded emails or delete them from Gmail</li>
<li>You can Forward only specific emails using Filters</li>
<li>Enable Gmail POP access</li>
<li>Disable Gmail POP Access</li>
<li>Options to delete the POP accessed emails from Gmail</li>
<li>Gmail POP access configuration instructions or help</li>
<li>Enable or Disable Gmail IMAP access</li>
<li>Gmail IMAP configuration instructions</li>
</ul>
<p>Next to Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab we have Chat Tabs as seen below</p>

<li>Options to save or not save Gtalk chat history in Gmail</li>
<li>Choose where you want the chat box to appear in Gmail</li>
<li>Automatically add the contacts you send emails to, from Gmail</li>
<li>Enable or Disable Chat sounds inside Gmail</li>
<li>Enable or Doable animating emotions inside Gmail</li>
<li>Option to sign-in with AIM</li>
</ul>
<p>Next to Chat tab we have Web Clips as seen below</p>

<p>Using this Tab you can choose what content you want to display in web clips that appear on top of your inbox messages view</p>
<p>You can select from which site you want the clips from</p>
<p>Next to Web Clips we have Labs as seen below and this is a new feature added in 2008</p>

<p>Under Labs tab you will get options to set the below</p>
<ul>
<li>Labs feature are under test mode</li>
<li>It may work or it may not work</li>
<li>Once Gmail finds some features are used by many users and they find it useful, Gmail will make it as a permanent feature</li>
<li>There are some wonderful options available in Labs Tab</li>
</ul>

<p>Gmail uses your alternate ID for the following reasons</p>
<ul>
<li>Confirming your Gmail user name after you create one</li>
<li>If you are not able to login to your Gmail account</li>
<li>If you have forgotten your password and want to retrieve it</li>
<li>If your Gmail storage space is full</li>
<li>And other Gmail issues related to your account</li>
</ul>
<p>So it is advisable to have an alternate ID to get these notification</p>
<p>You can change the alternate ID by doing the following</p>
<ul>
<li>Go to settings</li>
<li>Under settings page you will the below menu, click accounts</li>
</ul>

<li>Click �<strong>Change Security Question</strong>� (You are not going to change the security question)</li>
<li>You will see the options for changing the security question and also to enter your alternate email ID</li>
</ul>
