Login to Gmail
Click the contacts link on the left side of the page
You will see the Gmail contacts page
On top of the page, you can see the search box as seen below
Type your search query in the Gmail contact search box
You will see the results below as you type. This is a great feature Gmail offers to find contacts easily.
